I want to start off by saying, that I do not believe that tissue paper poms are a substitute for fabulous fresh blooms! That being said, the humble pom deserves some kudos for it's fun, budget friendly addition to your soriee.
So, what makes poms so special, you ask?
Several things, but let's start with the difficulty level. Creating one is a very simple excercise, so simple in fact, that you can probably enlist a group of your dearest, creative little cousins to help you complete it.
In addition, they cost next to nothing. You could make hundreds of these puppies and only be out of pocket 100 buckaroos. There are a couple of great cost-effective places to buy the tissue. One of these is Costco, although that can be a hit or miss kind of thing and can be limiting in colors. The other great place to pick up tissue for a steal, in every color under the rainbow, is Nashville Wraps. One thing I think that many brides miss, is decorating for the bigger picture. In other words, what can be made on a large scale, that will fill the empty voids in the enormous venue space without devouring the entire budget? Simple answer, the modest but noteworthy pom!
As a lovely backdrop on any of your specialty tables or in the background of your photo booth, they will make a strong visual impact and sure to have people asking, how in the world does she do it? We have created poms in multiple colors, hanging, stationed, glittered and even glowing (twinkle lights). Even though we have used them many times, it always amazes me how uniquely different they seem to turn out looking. Large or small, the creative boundaries for these jewels seem to be limitless!
We found a great video of Toony the expert pom maker that shows just how simple and fun they can be, enjoy!
